VCW ChampionshipsThis is a featured page

At the out set of the VCW there were five championship titles. The World title was original designated as a Heavyweight title but this was changed by the VCW prior to their opening to an “all comers” belt. This was to encourage more wrestlers to challenge for the belt and thus make the belt more difficult to maintain long title reigns.

The VCW Tag Team tiles were created as the second highest rank belts in the federation. It was the hope of the VCW to have a very strong and effective Tag team division. The belts were modeled after the World title. The Tag Team division did not have a strong showing at the opening event of the VCW despite the acquisition of the Regulators Tag Team from the MWCWF.

The VCW Light Heavyweight Championship title was created as an alternative to the World title. The VCW felt the need to provide a belt that would allow the smaller and lighter wrestlers to compete without facing the “heavyweights”. The Light Heavyweight belt is one of the most hotly contested titles in any wrestling league as many of the lighter weight wrestlers often feel they have something to prove.

The VCW Hardcore Championship belt was created by Alexander Remis at the request of Kaster Troy (it was in the contract that brought the Regulators to the VCW). The VCW quickly agreed to the creation of this division as in most promotions these are some of the biggest fan drawing matches.

The VCW Ladies championship was created as a tactic to draw more female wrestlers and fans into the VCW. This division was not really taken seriously at the inception of the federation by the fans and the VCW had a very hard time attracting female wrestlers.
